Between Tony and John
Despite being married to Tony, John would soon be involved in Kristen's life again. Kristen organized a charity event which was held at Maison Blanche, home of the DiMera's. Stefano had John and Marlena trapped in a cell under the house. Celeste had gas leaked in that cell, but Roman was able to rescue John and Marlena in time. While Stefano was trying to get away, Kristen discovered her father was still alive. While Maison Blanche was bursting into flames, Tony tried to recover Stefano's computer, which contained a file on John's past. Tony succeeded, but went blind in the process. Afterwards Kristen turned on her father. Kristen soon began an affair with John. At first she didn't think she could leave Tony, but when she found out he knew all along that Stefano was alive and he switched her birth control pills with sugar pills, Kristen moved into John's loft. But when Kristen cracked the file Tony retrieved from Stefano's computer, she found out John was actually a priest. Tony was about to kill John, but backed off of this plan after hearing he was a priest. Tony had recovered his sight, but decided to not tell anyone just yet. He eventually forgave Kristen for her affair with John and took her back in.
In 1995 Kristen worked together with Father John, Father Francis and Caroline and Mike Brady to help exorcise the devil out of Marlena's body. Marlena was possessed with the devil after regular nightly visits from Stefano. After an intense battle it looked like Marlena was gone. The exorcism failed and Marlena was presumed dead. But John brought her body to the church altar and her soul was finally free from the demon. When John was released from his vows as a priest, Kristen left Tony for him.
Tony however had one more plan to keep Kristen away from John. Tony had recently found out he was dying from a disease and planned to kill himself and to frame John for it. To remember all the steps of his plan he wrote it down in his diary. Father Francis found out, but Tony forced him into a coma. When everybody went to Aremid for Peter and Jennifer's wedding, Tony put his plan into action. Tony installed a system that would have him shot, ofcourse after an argument with John. It was believed John shot Tony. Peter was put in charge of John's trial. Peter put Kristen on the stand and made her admit she doubted John. Marlena didn't. After Stefano blackmailed the judge, John was found guilty. Jack found Tony's diary and thanks to Marlena and the Woman in White, John was saved just in time.
